Thistle Horseshoe

Our Thistle Horseshoe is made from reclaimed copper, metal and horseshoes that Mike shoes on a regular basis. Each leaf and strand on the top of the thistle are cut and forged by hand, as such each design will vary slightly giving you a unique piece of art. These Thistles are perfect for wedding gifts for couples who get married in Scotland. They also make great anniversary gifts, for retirement and for new homes. 

In Celtic countries, the Thistle symbolises devotion, bravery, determination and strength. Many pagan cultures believe the thistle has magical properties. A vase of fresh thistles is said to renew the vitality of anyone who enters the home. It’s said to repel thieves, ward off evil and protect the home and garden. It’s also the national flower of Scotland.

Adding in the Horseshoe brings its own symbolism, this is said to bring good luck and good fortune as well as protect the home from bad luck.

• Height is 21cm, length is 16.5cm and width is 10.5cm
• Roughly 21cm H  x 16.5cm L x 10.5cm W (however this varies depending on your own shoes that are used)
• Base is normally a “floating” base which gives the impression it stands on its own but we can change the base to accommodate a personalised plaque
• Each one is handmade and as such they will vary slightly in colour and composition, making for a unique gift.
